Maximize Your Savings With Energy Rebate Programs in Ohio

post img

If you’re looking to improve your home’s energy efficiency with new insulation or by air sealing your home, this is the time to do it. There are several energy rebate programs available to Ohio residents and a federal tax credit you can take advantage of.

You’ll save on installation with these programs and you’ll also likely see a decrease in your monthly energy costs.

Energy Rebates & Tax Credits for Your Home

Energy tax credits and rebates are available to Ohio homeowners both locally and federally. Each has its own eligibility requirements, maximum incentive and guidelines for applying.

The Inflation Reduction Act

An insulation federal tax credit is available to homeowners across the country as a part of the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. You can claim 30% of the product cost with a maximum credit of $1,200.

The following insulation and air sealing products are eligible, assuming they have a Manufacturer’s Certification Statement and are purchased and installed between Jan. 1, 2023, and Dec. 31, 2032:

  • Bulk insulation, including batts, rolls, blown-in, rigid board, expanding spray and pour-in-place
  • Weatherstripping
  • Spray foam designed to air-seal
  • Caulk designed to air-seal
  • House wrap

Rebates for CenterPoint Energy Customers in Ohio

If you live in Ohio and use CenterPoint Energy’s natural gas for your primary heat source, you qualify for these rebates:

  • Air Sealing Rebate: Up to $250 of the total project cost
  • Attic Insulation Rebate: Up to $600 of the total project cost and the attic must be inspected and properly air-sealed before being insulated
  • Wall Insulation Rebate: Up to $700 of the total project cost

Homes that use a dual-fuel system don’t qualify for the rebates above. And to be eligible for the rebates, work must be done by a program-approved contractor.

CenterPoint also offers several other energy efficiency programs you can take advantage of, including an online home energy audit tool.

Best Energy-Efficient Insulation Options for Homes

If you’re looking to improve your home’s energy efficiency, consider one of these insulation types:

Start Saving With Insulation Installation

Over time, a home’s insulation can compress and become less effective. When this happens, your home becomes less efficient, your energy bills rise, and you may even notice drafty, uncomfortable areas in your home. That’s when you know it’s time to re-insulate your home.

This ensures your home is as energy-efficient as possible for lower energy costs and less strain on your HVAC system. Re-insulating your home can also improve your property value.
